Casting The Totally Spies For Amazon’s Live-Action Show: Who Should Play Clover, Alex, and Sam? (2025)

Anyone who remembers Totally Spies! from its original air date in 2001 must be excited about the live-action adaptation coming soon and already considering who could play the main trio. Clover, Alex, and Sam ran missions for the World Organization of Human Protection (WOOHP) in Totally Spies!. The French cartoon earned a cult following all around the world in the 2000s. Now that Amazon Prime Video is working on a live-action Totally Spies!, casting will be underway soon for the show's three main spies, their adversaries, and their allies.

The news of Amazon Prime Video's upcoming live-action series comes not too long after a surprise Totally Spies! season 7 comeback for the animated series. It is clearly the year of Totally Spies!, and the franchise intends to take the world by storm. The series initially ended in 2013 after six seasons of California-based spy-fi action, but Gulli brought it back to France for season 7 in 2024, and it is set to air on Cartoon Network and Max later in the year. Meanwhile, Will Ferrell will executive produce the YA live-action version, and a strong cast is hotly anticipated.

10 Josha Stradowski As Arnold

Josha Stradowski may not seem like the obvious choice for a Totally Spies! Arnold, but he would actually bring the role the on-screen magnetism it needs. Since Totally Spies! is so heavily focused on Clover, Sam, and Alex, the supporting characters will have to be incredibly charismatic to seem of value in the plot. The supporting cast will have to look good next to the main spies.

This is especially the case if they enter romantic territory with any of them, even if fake. Josha Stradowski's naturally red hair would capture Arnold's ginger locks effortlessly, and Stradowski could easily lose or gain weight to have the perfect nerdy frame. But importantly, when the time came for Arnold to shine in his villainous roles, Stradowski would have the star quality and charisma to make them compelling.

9 Archie Renaux As Blaine

Clover's Ex-Boyfriend And WOOHP Spy

Archie Renaux has proved that he is more than ready to play the Totally Spies! heartthrob, Blaine. The live-action Totally Spies! in development with Will Ferrell must bring Clover's on-off love interest to screens, along with Arnold, the spies' nerdy adversary. Blaine was originally Clover's boyfriend, and the spark between them remains, creating romantic tension throughout the series.

Archie Renaux played Alina's childhood sweetheart in YA fantasy Shadow and Bone, creating a push-pull dynamic that always suggested strong feelings between the two but never gave too much away. Also, Renaux saw his fair share of action in Shadow and Bone. Likewise, the British actor of Indian and English descent starred in 2024's Alien: Romulus, a sci-fi movie that proved his action chops.

8 Natasha Liu Bordizzo As Britney

Britney is a WOOHP spy who gets introduced later in Totally Spies!, but she is a key ally, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo would be perfect for her. The Australian actress played a sci-fi fighter with colorful hair in the Star Wars TV show Ahsoka. Her star power transformed her from Ahsoka's assistant to a veritable hero in her own right, and she could bring this experience to the role of Britney.

The Totally Spies! live-action reboot is an exciting adaptation and supporting characters like Britney will be critical in communicating the show's key themes. Far from needing to fade into the background, the show's supporting cast must embellish its main trio enough to make all their arcs engaging. Bordizzo's experience in sci-fi and thrillers proves her capacity to entertain.

7 Jaz Sinclair As Zerlina Lewis

Jaz Sinclair would be the perfect leader of WOOHP. Zerlina Lewis stepped in to replace her father, Jerry Lewis, as head of the World Organization of Human Protection. Jerry was an iconic character from the show's very first episode, but his retirement paved the way for season 7's Zerlina. This is one tough boss, and Jaz Sinclair has shown herself more than capable of representing her.

Sinclair played Marie Moreau in Gen V, Amazon Prime Video's The Boys spinoff. As a freshman at Godolkin University, Moreau was a vulnerable young adult and also a superhero with terrifying powers. Suffice it to say, Sinclair has the skills to play a nurturing guide and a fierce warrior. Sinclair also starred in The Vampire Diaries and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, proving her ability to play powerful women.

6 Karen Gillan As G.L.A.D.I.S.

Karen Gillan could be the perfect voice for G.L.A.D.I.S., the spies' handy tech assistant. The Gadget Lending and Distribution Interactive System was there for Jerry Lewis from season 3 onward, choosing the right tech for each mission, often with a mind of her own. Karen Gillan plays the Marvel Cinematic Universe hero Nebula, showing a certain propensity for robotic roles.

Nebula is mostly organic, but her father figure, Thanos, replaced a part of her with machinery for her every loss in a fight. Her robotic appearance and performance point to a great bet for voicing Totally Spies!' strong-minded AI helper. Fueled by the brain of an evil genius, G.L.A.D.I.S. is key in this girl cartoon that guys secretly love, and Karen Gillan would be just right as her live-action voice actor.

5 Ema Horvath As Mandy

Ema Horvath would be a great choice for Clover's rival, Mandy. Mandy is pretty, popular, and stylish, but also self-centered and more than a little arrogant. She tends to compete with Clover in any way possible, whether it be a general popularity contest or a literal beauty contest. Ema Horvath has the looks and the attitude to play this strong character in Totally Spies!.

Ema Horvath's Eärien in Amazon Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is both likable and insufferable. Horvath nails the combination of the two qualities, confirming that she has the nuance needed to play Mandy, who can be endearing as well as annoying. Mandy had her own stint as a spy, so she needs to be more than just a brat in this exciting YA live-action show.

4 Will Ferrell As Jerry Lewis

Will Ferrell would make the perfect Jerry Lewis, who led Clover, Sam, and Alex to victory across six seasons of Totally Spies!. Will Ferrell has been fancast in Totally Spies! as Jerry Lewis, and for good reason. The classic comedian would be the perfect team leader for the spies. Ferrell is hilarious, and WOOHP boss Jerry Lewis carried lots of humor in the animated show.

Will Ferrell is set to be executive producer for the Totally Spies! live-action remake, so he would be in the perfect position to step into the role of Jerry. Ferrell's comedy capabilities and overarching knowledge of the cast and script would help him acclimatize to the role. Adding to his candidacy for Jerry, Ferrell played the Mattel CEO in the Barbie movie with perfect clueless charm, indicating his skill in suited, corporate roles.

3 Ella Purnell As Clover

Mandy's Rival And WOOHP Spy

Clover is Totally Spies!' blonde bombshell, and she would be excellently portrayed by Ella Purnell. The English actress is known for her roles in YA movies and TV, setting her up for this critical lead role. Clover is athletic, fashionable, and loves having fun. Ella Purnell proved that she can be a fun and sensitive lead actress in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

Ella can also handle the action of this role, as is evident from Fallout, which may be Amazon's most successful TV show. Clover is always keen to teach villains a lesson, so comfort with action sequences is a must for her representative. Purnell looks great with short blonde hair and can carry all the action and humor of Clover's high-energy character, making her a clear choice for the part.

2 Charithra Chandran As Alex

English actress Charithra Chandran is a no-brainer casting for Alex, the black-haired spy that makes up one-third of the teen Charlie's Angels. Chandran has been cast in the Netflix live-action version of One Piece as Miss Wednesday. Evidently, this up-and-coming actress is more-than-ready to tackle all the keynotes of turning a cartoon character into a real one.

Chandran's first major on-screen role was actually Sabina Pleasance in Alex Rider, the Amazon Prime Video show adapting the Anthony Horowitz novels. This spy thriller makes Chandran's ability to play Alex incredibly clear. Alex's South Indian and Latin heritage would come through in Chandran's complexion, while her action and drama credentials would see her through her performance.

1 Emily Rudd As Sam

Emily Rudd should be cast as Sam in Totally Spies!. This intellectual and level-headed spy is often the voice of reason in the midst of Clover's boy-obsessed whims and Alex's adorable ditziness. Emily Rudd is the excellent American actress whose breakout roles were in Fear Street and One Piece, and she has shown herself capable of drama, action, and lighthearted fun.

As Nami in One Piece, Rudd is the redheaded pirate thief of the Straw Hat Pirates, making herself known as a rugged renegade with more than enough grit to play Sam. Plus, Rudd obviously suits red hair, which is key for Totally Spies!' green-suited Sam. This promising young actress will be taking up lead roles more and more, so Ferrell's live-action Totally Spies! had better snap her up.
